MATTER MZHUB 1.13.10 exposes Zigbee Garage Door Opener as Switch in Apple Home (Matter)

Hello,

Please help

I have a MOES MZHUB MATTER running firmware 1.13.10.

My MOES Zigbee Garage Door Opener is correctly recognized as a Garage Door in Smart Life.

However, when the gateway bridges it to Apple Home via Matter, it is exposed as a Switch instead of a Garage Door.

The state synchronization works perfectly:

  • OFF = Closed
  • ON = Open

Therefore the gateway already knows the real-time state but exposes the wrong Matter device type.

Could you please check if this is a firmware issue? or give me a idea to what to do?

Any help will be appreciated

:)

Hello. At present, there is no defined definition for garage doors in Matter. Therefore, we have reused the device type of the switch. This is determined by the current level of device type richness in the Matter specification.

Thank you for your explanation.

I understand that earlier Matter versions did not define a dedicated garage door device type.

However, the latest Matter specifications and Apple documentation now include support for Matter garage door controllers.

Does MOES plan to update the MZHUB firmware to support this newer Matter device type, or is the MZHUB expected to remain limited to a Switch representation?

Thank you for your reply. However, Matter 1.5, released in November 2025, now explicitly includes closures such as gates and garage doors.

I understand that the current MZHUB firmware may still use an older Matter implementation, but could you please confirm whether support for the Matter 1.5 closure device model is planned for a future firmware update?

The gateway already receives both the open and closed states correctly, so it appears that only the Matter device mapping needs to be updated.
